OHGS Boughton 2004 - report
September 10, 2004 - 01:00
13 players contested the last OHGS meeting of 2004 at Boughton, on a rather windy but fortunately dry day. Ray Baker managed to win "dickhead of the day" for his performance on the 1st tee under the watchful gaze of the Course Marshal, starting with an air shot, then his second did not make the ladies tee some 4 yards ahead and his third was only another 10 yards or so ahead of that. At least his day could only get better. The best golf was played during the morning's 9 holes with Bill Whiteford posting 22 points - watch that handicap Bill. Overall winner - Bill Whiteford (52 points) Over 18 h/c winner - Dave Reardon (51 points) Under 18 h/c winner - David South (50 points) Longest drive - John Dougherty Nearest the Pin - Simon Evans Pairs competition - Gill Griffiths / Alan Payne (96 points) The Society champion for 2004 was Brian Long with 59 points, John Dougherty and David South sharing runners up spot with 56 points each. A brief AGM was held and Dave Reardon was voted in as Secretary for next year. Gill Griffiths (the new Captain) appointed Brian Long as her Vice. Many thanks were given to Keith Martin for all his hard work as Secretary for the past 3 years. Thanks to Bill Whiteford for his Captaincy this year.
