RIP Terry Doust

It is with sadness the club has learned that a member of the extended Holcombe family Terry Doust (Lisa Parker's dad) passed away on Sunday. The club sends heartfelt thoughts to Brenda, Lisa, Jeff, Sean, Louis, Ella and the rest of the family.

Terry was a longstanding member of Old Williamsonians Hockey Club but a regular at Holcombe Park. Many of the older club members will remember playing against Terry on the pitch, and many others will remember Terry's frequent visits to Holcombe Park to watch Lisa, Sean, Louis, Ella or the 1XIs in action.

Terry was always welcome at Holcombe Park and regularly attended the Vets Lunches, organised by Graham Robertson. Lisa and Jeff's Mum Brenda used to undertake the catering for the Old Holcombeians Dinner and Dance at Pattens Lane.

Lisa's brother Jeff, also an OWs member, said today "Dad really loved the local rivalries, but revered the friendships he made with the opposition even more. Lisa and I have always tried to adopt the same principles; once you step back outside the white lines of the pitch, you leave that rivalry behind and share your love of the game."

Holcombe Hockey Club members may say a final goodbye to Terry and celebrate his life on Wednesday 11 September at 1400 at the Garden of England Crematorium, Sheppey Way, Bobbing, ME9 8GZ. Afterwards, refreshments will be at Gillingham Golf Club, Woodlands Road, ME7 2AP.

Many thanks Jon Rye (Club Chairman)
