Medway DC Manager required

The Player Pathway provides an environment that helps all junior players realise their potential, whether that means they are the best club player they can be, seek a lifelong commitment to the game through coaching or volunteering or perhaps go on to represent England or Great Britain at junior or senior level.

The Player Pathway is made up of various tiers and a Development Centre provides a local entry point to the Player Pathway for U13s-U17s. There are Development Centres based locally and there are currently 8 in Kent situated in North-West Kent (split between Sidcup and Erith), Metro (split between Hayes and Bromley), South West (Tonbridge), Mid Kent (Sutton Valence), Medway (Rochester), East (Canterbury) and South (Folkestone). The DCs offer a guaranteed level of coaching, which is under the direction of England Hockey, and offer further ways to play hockey in addition to the standard school and club-based models.

More information about the Player Pathway can be found here on the England Hockey website.

We are looking for a self-starter with strengths in administration to fill the role of Development Centre Manager.

Duties include;

  • Organising an annual assessment for prospective players from local schools and clubs
  • Maintaining an EH player platform (database) for the centre
  • Running the centre to a budget (a template of operation is in place)
  • Booking pitches and engaging coaches for each DC operational cycle
  • Reporting directly to the County Coordinator
  • Timely communication with parents/carers and school/club contacts
  • Accurate register of attendance at the centre each week

What we are ideally seeking;

  • A volunteer with a passion for sport (administration). Some remuneration may be available
  • Good time management and deadline set/completion
  • Personable
  • A certain level of IT skills (for marketing the centre and maintaining a database)
  • Some knowledge of hockey is desirable but not essential
  • Budget operation (collection of fees, payment of facilities and coaching staff, levy to the county)

If you are interested in discussing the opportunity further please do not hesitate to contact me.

Many thanks Jon Rye (Chairman and current Medway DC Manager)
