Ladies... make hockey happen
February 23, 2017 - 20:00
Holcombe Hockey Club is part of a new initiative with Kent Sport and England Hockey, aimed at females (16+) within our club (players, parents, partners, volunteers, social members) who might be interested in making hockey happen.
We would like interested ladies to attend both workshops (being hosted at Holcombe!); the first workshop in March will be a mixture of Engaging Games for children and adults to provide some practical ideas and a basic understanding of the sport. The second workshop in May will be based on the feedback from the first session, it might focus on further practical ideas or more along the lines of some basic volunteering concepts such as communication skills, group management etc.
It is hoped that, as a result of attending the workshops, ladies will feel confident enough to lend an occasional hand at their club. Of course if individuals are keen to progress further, would like to volunteer regularly and consider coaching that would be wonderful. Kent Sport will be able to support with a bursary should it be required and hopefully will be able to develop a support network for the ladies attending.
This initiative is a new approach to volunteering in hockey and offer training and support that is based on the needs of a female-only group interested in hockey.
The costs of the workshops will be covered by Holcombe HC for any interested female, and I would reiterate that there is no further commitment beyond the workshops unless you are keen to get more involved in our club, in any way.
Many thanks Jon Rye (Co-Chairman and Director of Hockey)
