L1XI welcomes Dirkie Chamberlain

To conclude our week of new player announcements, I can confirm that the highly experienced South African International Dirkie Chamberlain will be joining Holcombe Hockey club for the new season. Dirkie is a striker with a sharp eye for scoring goals as well as having the skill set to offer impact in the attacking midfield areas.

Internationally, Dirkie has amassed an impressive 212 caps for South Africa which has seen her take part in a number of major tournaments in her last 12 years of International hockey, such as the London Olympics (2012), 2 x Commonwealth Games (2010, 2014) and 3 x Hockey World Cups (2006, 2010, 2014). As she begins her next club chapter with Holcombe, Dirkie is setting her sights firmly on adding to her current International caps tally in gaining selection for next year's Commonwealth Games, World Cup and beyond to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Dirkie will arrive at Holcombe after gaining valuable experience in club Hockey for 7 years now playing in various European leagues; with clubs including Kampong (Dutch Hoofdklasse), Canterbury HC (Investec English Premier League) and Gantoise HC (Belgium Honour Division), appearing in league finals with the last two mentioned clubs.

It is fantastic to see Dirkie announced as the next in a long and successful line of South African players to play their club hockey at Holcombe and we welcome her to the team along with our other new signings.

Many thanks Kevin Johnson (Head of Ladies Performance)
