Kevin Johnson steps down as Ladies 1XI Head Coach

After five years of coaching the Ladies 1XI, Kevin Johnson has made the difficult decision to step down due to greater personal and international coaching commitments.

Kevin said, "I have always approached my coaching work with Holcombe with nothing less than 100% focus and application but sadly in this next year both personal and International coaching commitments mean that I will be unable to do this. This great team and great club demand and deserve the very best attention from their coaching team and therefore whilst my decision to step down has been an incredibly difficult one to make, at the same time it is also the correct one.

I have so many happy memories of the last five years coaching the team and I have been very proud to see us in this time rise from the regional league all the way up to finishing runners-up in the Investec Premier league this year and in doing so qualifying for Europe for the first time.

I wish to personally thank David South for supporting me and our aspirations in this time, all the coaching and management staff that have gone above and beyond throughout, the Holcombe club members for all their support for myself and the team which has meant so much to us all and of course all the players that I have been fortunate enough to work with over the years that have contributed in making such special memories."

David South, Chairman, said "Kevin has been a tremendous asset to the club, and in particular the ladies section. We hope to see him return to Holcombe Park in due course, once his other commitments have lightened, but in the meantime the club is putting a plan together to ensure that our Ladies 1XI continue to develop and grow in the way that they have done over the past five years."

Jon Rye, Co-Chairman, said "I am sure that I speak on behalf of our members in wishing Kevin good luck for his international commitments with the Wales Senior Womens team in the lead up to the 2018 Commonwealth Games, and of course congratuations to both Kevin and Lauren on the announcement of the expected increase to their family unit!"
