Hockey for Heroes Op Stretcher

On Friday 26 May, the Hockey for Heroes team embarks on their latest challenge, Op Stretcher.

Beginning at Sofia Gardens in Cardiff, the team will play the first of 30 matches over the ten days that follow. On top of all that time on the pitch, the squad will be walking over 200 miles from venue to venue whilst carrying Dominic Lovett on a stretcher.

Dom is a former Royal Marine, Navy and Combined Service hockey player, who unfortunately suffered severe injuries whilst serving and is now tetraplegic. He is also the son of one of the Hockey for Heroes squad members.

The tour will finish on Sunday 4 June at Marlow HC, where there will be a large family festival style event and you are all invited.

The club has two members heavily involved with the tour in Aurora Mears and Ian Harvey. Any donations that you can give are hugely appreciated and go a long way to helping both former and current serving personnel.

Donations can be made through Ian's just giving page at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ian-harvey13 or by texting OPST98 £5 to 70 070. A collection bucket will also be on the bar at this year's Annual Dinner & Dance.

Many thanks Jon Rye (Co-Chairman and Director of Hockey)
