Getting Back on the Pitch - Step 4

England Hockey recently moved to Step 4 in its ‘return to play’ plan and in doing so have issued a 26-page guidance document for clubs to follow to allow them to re-engage in hockey activity safely.

Over the coming weeks we will release guidance in ‘bitesize chunks’ share what this guidance means to our club and its membership as we return to regular play, but I want to share a few key points in the meantime.

  1. The ‘Golden’ Rule:

If you have a high temperature over 37.8 °C
    A new continuous cough
A loss of or change to sense of smell

    DO NOT LEAVE YOUR HOME

  2. We have as a club an obligation to appoint a COVID-19 Officer, the Hockey Club Committee has been fulfilling that role in the interim, but we will shortly announce who that is.

  3. Participation Agreement – before any player, umpire, coach, volunteer re-engages in hockey activity they must sign a Participation Agreement which outlines the risks of returning to play and the requirement to support a ‘Track & Trace system’. This can be found on the England Hockey website at the following address http://www.englandhockey.co.uk/page.asp?section=2633&sectionTitle=Covid%2D19+Club+Support

  4. ‘Track & trace system’ – there are ‘QR’ codes stuck to the walls and windows around the clubhouse, whenever you attend the club you must take a picture of anyone of them using your phone and you will get taken to the Teamo app to answer a couple of Y/N questions and that will store a record you were onsite on that day (this record is kept for 21 days).

  5. Entering Holcombe Park – there is now a ‘one way’ system. Entry is via the large gates between the clubhouse and the warm-up cage. Exit is via the gate between P1 and P2. Please follow the signs.

  6. Clubhouse. Do not enter the clubhouse without a mask or visit the bar without one. Once you have your drink then return to the terrace or take a seat at one of the tables – you can remove your mask when seated.

  7. Hand sanitizers – these are placed around the facility, please make use of them

  8. When spectating socially distance at 2m apart and ensure you are in a group of no more than 6 people
