Congratulations Sarah Jones et al

Women's Central Programme

Congratulations to #incredibleholc Sarah Jones who has been selected to join the Central Programme for the new Olympic Cycle.  Sarah is one of three Welsh athletes to receive a call up to the Great Britain senior programme since before London 2012.  Currently in Kuala Lumpur on route to the World League Round 2 quarterfinals, Sarah has an amazing journey in front of her over the next four years in the lead up to Tokyo 2020, on which I know our members will be behind her every step of the way!

Sarah playing in the World League

Sarah is one of 15 joining the central programme for the first time, marking a significant injection of new blood to an already hugely successful squad.

Twelve of the 19 athletes who flew to Rio will once again strive for success under Kerry’s tutelage, including Shona McCallin MBE, Ellie Watton and Nicola White MBE.  Maddie Hinch has been included in the 33-woman squad and as she knows #stillonloan ;-)

Men's Central Programme

Barry Middleton, the most capped player in our country’s history, is closing in on 400 caps and will return to the setup in the hope of competing in his fifth Olympics. From Rio, David Ames, George Pinner, and Sam Ward will also look to take their Olympic experience to Japan in three years’ time.

Dan Fox (retired from international hockey) and Iain Lewers are not named in the 27-man playing squad and we welcome them back to Holcombe Park at the end of the month to concentrate on their club careers.

Many thanks Jon Rye (Co-Chairman and Director of Hockey)
