Match Report: Holcombe welcomed Norfolk side, Harleston Magpies on Sunday and from the first whistle Holcs stamped their authority on the game, playing fast, direct hockey. Numerous openings were created and it was a surprise that it took until the 15th minute for Dave Mathews to break the deadlock. However, a minute later, following another counter attack and intricate play in the circle Steve Waldrom struck from close range to add a second. As the half time whistle blew Magpies were counting themselves lucky to go in at the interval only two goals down. Holcs seemed to relax in the second half, though further goals did follow. Mathews added another via a deflection off a defender taking his tally to seventeen for the season. Ramsden deflected in a fourth midway through the second half and when Magpies did reply it was to be merely a consolation. Holcs will be aware that they face sterner tests in the upcoming weeks. |
