Match Report:
After several catastrophes, losing players through illness and injury, Holcombe ladies 2's finally pulled together a team to play at home against BBHC 2's, who they had beaten 2-0 earlier on in the season. With this in mind it was a bit of a shock to the system when Holcombe found themselves 3-0 down in the first 5 minutes, the whole team seemed to have gone to pieces! However, always knowing that they should be able to turn things around, Gill Griffiths opened the scoring with a cracking shot from a short-corner. This was the inspiration for the rest of the team to step up a gear and it was a completely different side that then set Griffiths up for another goal and the tireless Pahrnia Parsons banged in the third to see the 2 sides turn around level pegging at half time, the score 3-3.
Griffiths completed her hat-trick soon after the start of the second half to put Holcombe 4-3 ahead. This was when the home side knew they could do it and the teamwork and quick passing in midfield from Lou Hayes, Carmel Sutton and Chris Ravenscroft, coupled with the brilliant leading runs and hunger for more goals from the forwards, saw Holcombe to a convincing 6-3 win, with a great goal from Rachel Cook and another from Griffiths.
