A message from Mike Haines - Club Co-ordinator

We at Holcombe Hockey Club are rightly proud of both the playing side of the club and our excellent facilities. In only seven short years all eighteen senior sides have been promoted so that the men’s first eleven is now an established National League team and the ladies first eleven are only one promotion from the same achievement.  

The men’s teams have looked at 1, 3 and 5 year Improvement Plans with a focus on local players and Holcombe juniors as the main source of playing talent. Introduced this summer, and continuing weekly, are academy sessions for the juniors showing the most potential. 

The ladies have five teams, our first eleven in east premier and our seconds to fifths in the Kent leagues 1,3,4 and 6 respectively. Again the ladies section has seen promotions every year across our five teams and we are looking hopeful towards our ladies first eleven making the National league for the 2008/9 season.  

Our Junior Section continues to flourish with sessions for many age groups taking place on Sunday mornings, all coached by experienced and qualified club members. 

One of the unique opportunities we offer is our own internal mixed Summer League, when players of all abilities compete in balanced teams and are rewarded with a sociable summer. 

With the relaying of pitch one using the latest synthetic turf from Australia (due to replace water-based pitches in the near future) we can now offer a facility rarely bettered. Whether pitches, hot showers, beer at the bar or bacon butties from the kitchen we feel we have quality.
